E6X EKP To Fuel Pump Wiring Harness Installation Instructions
Professional Installation Required
Important Installation Notice:
Installing the terminals in the incorrect position or installing them loosely will result in damage to your fuel pump and EKP module and can cause damage to the wiring harness itself. Please make sure that the terminals are installed in the correct position.
Step1: Disconnect the negative terminal of your battery. Then access your EKP module and disconnect the black connector that goes from the EKP module to your fuel pump.
Step 2: Remove your rear seats and access the fuel pump cover. To make the installation easier, we recommend removing the rear seat backings as well. Remove the fuel pump cover and disconnect the fuel pump's connector.
Step 3: Use a pick tool to unlock the terminals on the connector by pulling back the blue tab until it clicks into the position shown below.
Step 4: Take note of which wire goes into each position on the connector before de-pinning the terminals. De-pin one terminal at a time and transfer the wires over to the same exact position on the new connector. The two larger wires (red / white) and (brown) can be removed last. They are the power and ground wires for the fuel pump and do not get re-used. For kits that are still using the factory top hat connector, you will only need to remove the power and ground wires from the connector and install the new wires in their place. We recommend using the following terminal release tool: https://ctatools.com/products/9812w
Step 5: Once all of the wires have been transferred over to the correct spot in the new connector, secure the terminal lock by pressing the blue tab into the locking position. It should click into place and be flush with the connector's body.
Step 6: Remove the electrical tape from the old harness and pull the brown and red / white wires through the grommet. Take your time in doing so to avoid damaging the other wires.
Step 7: Feed the EKP connector terminals through the grommet. Take your time with this process to avoid bending or damaging the terminals. If they are bent, they should not be used as the metal can snap or become weak if you try to bend them back into place. Depending on the condition of your grommet, you may want to use dielectric grease to ease the wires and terminals through.
Step 8: Completely remove the old harness and run the new harness through the same path. Secure the harness by using the same harness tie-downs that the old harness was removed from. Once the harness is in position, wrap the wires with new electrical tape where the old tape was removed from.
Step 9: For kits that chose the "Not Installed" EKP connector option: Once the harness is in place, install the included black EKP connector. The terminals MUST BE INSTALLED IN THE CORRECT POSITION. Reference the picture below for the correct terminal positioning.
Step 10: Reconnect the connectors to the top hat and to the EKP module. Once you've verified that the connections are secure, connect the negative terminal back onto the battery and start the vehicle to ensure that everything is running normally as expected.
Step 11: Reassemble everything that you removed to perform the install.
