We're happy to bring back the highly requested Navpod reproduction for Toyota MR2 Spyders! Our Navpods are created via a high quality 3D printing process designed for durability and aesthetics in mind. We designed our Navpods from scratch by using detailed measurements from an existing OEM Navpod. Our version of the Navpod is 3D printed using high strength, high temperature, UV resistant Carbon Fiber Polycarbonate.
*Current Lead Time: 5 - 7 Business Days Before Shipping.
We offer this product in the OEM size, just like the one that came from Toyota as well as a more "modern" universal Double Din size. Both variations of our Navpod come printed as a single piece for better stability, overall strength and ease of installation. Sizing information for both versions of the pods can be found below. We also offer two versions of each pod, one being "raw," which is straight out of the printer with the support material removed and the other is a "sanded, primed and painted" finish that comes to a close match to the interior of the ZZW30.
Please note that the raw finishes will have some rough surfaces on due to the support material required when printing these. However, they can be sanded, primed and painted at home for a great look!
This project was made possible by the help of Dean Vu, who has been tirelessly testing several different versions of our Navpod until we came up with the two solutions that are both a perfect fit. Hence the moniker of "Deja Vu Pod."
These are made-to-order and generally ship within 5 business days. We will reach out to you shortly after you place an order and give you a more accurate estimate of when yours will be shipped out.
FAQ:
1. This is a 3d printed part, will it be strong enough to take the conditions of being on a dashboard?
a. Yes, Carbon Fiber Polycarbonate is one of the most durable 3d printing materials available today. It's our choice for this product because of how well the surface quality is, the incredible resistance to heat (over 290°F!) and how strong it is, yet still being flexible enough to work with when fitting a radio or tablet. Also, being resistant to a wide variety of chemicals is a bonus when it comes to cleaning!
2. I want to make custom radio mounts or a custom faceplate, can I drill into this?
a. Absolutely! CF-PC is a great material to drill into, as the holes always come out clean and being printed at over 518°F, the layer adhesion is very strong, which minimalizes the risk of cracking / splitting in between layers.
3. I prefer using a different color and material such as ASA, ABS, etc... as a material for all of my prints, if I wanted a custom material printed for this, can I have that done?
a. Yes, we do offer this to be printed in nearly any available 3d printing material on the market today. Just reach out to us via our "Contact Us" page and we'll try to make your request a possibility.
4. I have a 3d printer and want to make this myself, can I have the STL file?
a. We do have plans to eventually offer the STL file for sale. When it is available, this page will be updated.
5. This is a single-piece unit, does that make installation easier or harder?
a. We've tested out installations with both a one and two piece Navpod and determined that a single piece Navpod is easier install, especially when installing a full-size Double Din radio.
