Our upgraded EKMP3's offer a 22 Amp INCREASE in maximum current capacity over an OEM EKPM3. This allows for more current to be supplied to your low pressure fuel pump (LPFP) without risking thermal overload, which often leads to your car shutting down. This means that you won't have to worry about being stranded on the side of the road while waiting for your EKP module to cool down, especially when you've installed a large low pressure fuel pump such as a Walbro 525lph or 535lph.
What makes this an upgrade over a factory EKMP3?
We start off by taking a brand new EKMP3 and removing the stock half bridge IC fuel pump motor driver and then we replace it with a brand new genuine Infineon half bridge IC. The half bridge IC is responsible for supplying varying current based on flow requests from the DME (the car's computer). This takes the brunt of the load and what causes thermal overload shutdowns on factory EKMP3s when using a larger-than-stock low pressure fuel pump. The factory half bridge is rated for a maximum of 33A at 60 seconds, but can only supply a sustained 17 - 18A before shutting down. Our upgrade allows for a maximum of 55A at 60 seconds and can supply a sustained 30+A without overheating*. This allows for significantly more headroom when using something such as a Walbro 535 or Walbro 525lph pump.
Important Fitment Notes:
- Please make sure to choose the EKMP3 that corresponds with your chassis. For example, if you have an E-Chassis (Non-M), make sure to choose the EKMP3 that has "E-Chassis" in the name. (Please see below for E-Chassis fitment).
- If you have an F-Chassis (Non-M), please make sure to choose the EKMP3 that has "F-Chassis" in the name. (Please see below for F-Chassis fitment).
- These will not work with any M cars. (M3, M4, M2, etc...)
FAQ:
- Does this upgrade require coding?
- Yes. Although the module may work without being coded, we strongly recommend that you properly code the module to your vehicle. Coding can be completed with ProTool or NCS Expert for E-Chassis. For F-Chassis vehicles, coding may not be required if no errors are present. However, we still recommend using E-SYS or any other capable program to perform coding operations. We strongly recommend installation and coding to be performed by a qualified professional.
- Can you code this for me?
- We currently do not have the ability for remote coding or bench coding for these modules.
- Do I need active cooling?
- If you are using a factory sized low pressure fuel pump, no active cooling is required. However if you are using a Walbro 450lph or anything larger, it is required to get the best longevity out of your new EKMP3.
- How does the integrated automatic cooling work?
- The integrated automatic cooling works by us installing a thermal activation switch directly onto the new half bridge IC. When the half bridge IC reaches 50°C, the 40mm fan will turn on and keep running until the IC is below 50°C or until the EKMP3 stops receiving power.
- I have an EKPM2, can I upgrade to this?
- Yes. You can upgrade to this. We recommend using the HW05 and below module. You will need to code it in order for it to function properly.
- Can I run more than 1 low pressure fuel pump off of this module?
- No. We do not recommend that you use more than one low pressure fuel pump with any EKP module due to the factory wiring supplying power to the EKP Module is only 12 gauge, which is not rated for the type of power demands that two low pressure fuel pumps would require.

*The factory wiring cannot sustain more than 20A of current for a very short duration. Overheating the of the module can still occur if factory wiring or connectors are damaged, corroded or loose. Additionally, overheating can occur if the upgraded EKPM3 loses CAN bus connection as it will trigger a failsafe to 100% duty cycle as a factory module would.
