Our EKP Module Bypass tool is designed to help troubleshoot issues within your BMW's fuel system. A common failure with BMW fuel systems is the EKP module, which isn't always easy or cheap to troubleshoot. This tool is essentially a fuel pump relay that will run your low pressure fuel pump at 100% duty cycle whenever the ignition or KL-15 becomes active. This tool should not be used as a replacement for your EKP module for street driving purposes and should only be used as a diagnostic tool. If you're looking for a more robust fuel pump controller solution, we offer brand new EKPM3's with upgraded hardware, which are available at the following link: https://arcterminator.com/products/upgraded-ekpm3

Fitment Notes:

This tool fits any non-M BMW that uses an EKPM2 or EKPM3 with the same color connector as shown in the photos. Also, this module does not come with a mounting base, but does fit in the mounting bases for OEM EKPM2's and any OEM EKPM3 regardless of size. The top cover for your OEM EKP module will not fit over this tool, but we make one that does fit, if you prefer to keep it covered during diagnostic work.

The EKP Module Bypass Contains The Following Features:

  • Utilizes the OEM EKP module connector for easy plug and play installations.
  • 30A relay to safely power larger-than-stock low pressure fuel pumps.
  • Easily accessible PT-CAN bus tap point for more complex diagnostic work.
  • On / Off selectable 120Ohm resistor across CAN_H and CAN_L.

Important Safety Information:

The EKP Module Bypass tool does not report any data to the DME and will create fault codes that may or may not trigger an iDrive message or check engine light. These fault codes typically include "CDA6 - Message (status, electric fuel pump, 0x335) incorrect, receiver DME transmitter EKP."

Also note that running your low pressure fuel pump at 100% duty cycle, especially if it's a larger-than-stock pump will cause your pump's wiring harness to become very hot. For example, a Walbro 535lph fuel pump at idle only will draw over 19A sustained when running at 100% duty cycle. The factory EKP fuse and wiring is only rated for peak currents of 20A, which is why we do not recommend using this on any street-driven vehicle.

Uses For The EKP Module Bypass:

Here at Arc Terminator, we frequently receive messages from people that have issues with their BMW's fuel system and look for guidance on how to troubleshoot their specific issues. Often times, it is difficult to determine whether the fuel pump or EKP module is failing or has failed. Common symptoms of EKP and pump failures include error codes such as "fuel pump plausibility" or "control voltage too low" or "control current too high," etc... These codes can indicate a failing pump, faulty wiring, failing low pressure fuel sensor or a failing EKP module. Using our EKP Module Bypass tool allows you to run the low pressure fuel pump at 100% duty cycle to see if the low pressure fuel pump is operating normally or not.

Other Information:

This product is not DOT approved and is not intended to be installed on any street-driven vehicle. Installation and usage of this product is to be done only by a professional and may result in your vehicle's warranty becoming void.
